Our Developer

The Copeland Board has entered into a partnership with Innovative Housing, Inc. (the Portland-based not-for-profit developer who successfully reclaimed the Merwyn Hotel – next to Astoria’s City Hall) to similarly develop, renovate and, once again, offer housing at the site we own/control.

Preliminary design plans call for 63 affordable units: 41 efficiency studios with bathrooms, 18 one-bedroom apartments with bathrooms, and 4 two-bedroom units. Both parties are determined to develop desperately needed and “affordable” housing opportunities in the downtown corridor, and our site is situated strategically proximal to public transportation, and to many eager employers.

Rapidly increasing interest rates and materials costs will likely require financial support – beyond what has traditionally been available from state agencies through their application processes and award formulas. Your generous donation will go a long ways toward bridging the $1.5 million "gap" in funding that IHI has asked us to raise and anticipates will be necessary to complete our project.

Today, we count over 50 households, 2 businesses, and 6 faith communities among our supporters.
